Winter 2006
I can’t believe another year has passed. All
three of my Regalo Grande books are now in
stores. The last one, The Fragrance of Roses,
came out in September. The same month I turned
in my next book, As I Have Loved You. It
isn’t part of a series; it is what is called a
“stand alone.”
Here’s a sneak preview of the cover right from
the PDF file sent to me from the publisher (it
shows the spine of the book too) and book blurb:

Leigh Scott is a Christian, a widow, an
author—and a devoted mother. Leigh’s only child,
Jeff, a junior in college who was diagnosed with
ADD while still in grammar school, is the light
of her life, but now Jessica, a young woman with
a sordid past, threatens to extinguish that
light.
Accustomed to fighting for her son, Leigh
resolves to do so again. With Leigh’s father
battling cancer, a looming book deadline, the
ongoing tug-of-war over her son, and her first
love—a handsome Native American and devout
Christian named John Higheagle—reappearing on
the scene, Leigh struggles to keep her balance,
even as she cries out to God to give her a gift
to minister to others.
It is only as Jessica’s life takes a tragic turn
that Leigh begins to understand the true gift
that God has wanted to give her all along….

Those of you who like the symbols in my books,
note that buck in the lower right corner. He has
a divine purpose in the story.
In other areas, my literary agent set me up with
a Hollywood agent Joel Gotler of Intellectual
Property Group for the purpose of shopping my
books and selling the film rights. That includes
made for TV movies. So that has opened up
another avenue for me.
I mentioned in my last newsletter that I’m
working on a series about Muslims and that I had
connected to the Center for Ministry to Muslims.
Well the person there who has been helping me is
named Harry Morin. As I worked with him on my
novel I began to learn a lot about the Muslim
culture. I found it fascinating and soon asked
him if he’d like to co-author a non-fiction book
with me that would be written for the lay
Christian, just average church going people who
are perplexed by what they see happening in our
world in the name of Islam. He said yes. So I
have spent A LOT of time developing a
non-fiction book proposal. This is something I
have never done so I had to study up on it. I
finally finished it and submitted it to my
agent. She is very excited about it and has
already sent it to publishers who are looking at
my series. The name of the non-fiction book is,
Through the Eyes of Christ, Why the Muslims
hate us and how to love them.
Yep, that’s what I want people to know. Here is
the opening paragraph of the book proposal:
We are at
war.
The radical
Islamic fundamentalists are on fire for their
God and their faith and have committed
themselves unto death to see their brand of
Islam spread throughout the world. As these
jihadists pursue their ambitious and terrifying
goals, most American Christians feel powerless
to respond. What should the body of Christ do?
How can we respond in a way that will make a
difference? Should we initiate an all-out war
with them?
That should peak the interest of a publisher.
I’ll keep you posted on this. It will be
difficult for me to sell this because I have no
platform or track record with non-fiction. I
have garnered interest from the Billy Graham
Center and Campus Crusade for Christ as possible
endorsers. That should help. I would love to
make a deal on both the series and this book and
cross promote them. But I have no guarantee
either one will sell. The topic is dicey.
Never a dull
moment. Need continual prayer
Blessings to
you all and may 2007 be the best year ever.
